Why GFRC?

GFRC stands for Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete — a cement-based matrix reinforced with alkali-resistant glass fibers. The glass fibers do something ordinary concrete cannot: they arrest micro-cracks before they spread. Under thermal stress, mechanical load, or repeated freeze-thaw cycles, the material holds together where standard concrete eventually fails.

Here is what that means in practice:

• 12,500 psi compressive strength — Regular concrete tops out at 3,000–4,000 psi. GFRC is roughly three to four times stronger, which is why it stays structurally sound under years of heating, cooling, and outdoor exposure.
• 2,000+ psi flexural strength — It bends before it breaks. That matters when ground shifts or temperature swings create stress that would crack a conventional concrete product.
• True freeze-thaw immunity — Water cannot penetrate GFRC's dense matrix, so there is nothing to freeze and expand inside the material. The cracking and spalling that destroys ordinary outdoor concrete after a few northern winters simply does not happen here.
• 400°F to sub-zero, night after night — The same fire pit that handles a full wood-burning fire in July handles a Minnesota January without any surface degradation.
